Summer can be such a beautiful time of year but it can also wreck havoc on your skin, hair and nails.

What’s a girl to do when she wants to have fun in the sun yet come out of it looking good? Protect, protect, protect! Here are a few tips to keep you in top shape during the hot months.

  • Hair. After much time in the sun, your hair may begin taking on a greenish tint. To avoid this, wear a wide brimmed hat or baseball cap when swimming. Another option is to wet your hair before you head outdoors and apply leave-in conditioner to it. This will put a shield on your hair and protect it from the chlorine that tends to turn your hair green.

  • Skin. Always, always wear sun protection. I’d recommend wearing at least a number 30 sunblock on your skin but make sure it protects against UVA and UVB rays. Never leave home without it, pool or no pool.

  • Nails. Your nails will tend to dry out, chip, and peel with extended time in sun and water. Try applying a hand cream every night before bed and make sure you rub it deep into your cuticles. Wear a clear polish or your favorite color on your toes and fingernails. This will keep your nails from turning a yellowish tone when left bare.

There you go! Summer tips for your fun in the sun!

Beautiful Blessings,

WHOA! Your fingernails turn yellow in the summer?!?! I didn't know that! Why do they?

That's really cool! For me, my blonde hair gets darker in the sun.
