This week, we’re focusing on heaven. Hopefully, you don’t imagine heaven any longer as a shining white city hidden behind the clouds, but as a kingdom blazing with magnificent color and brilliance. The Bible says that “no eye has seen” what awaits us in heaven, because we will be able to see much clearer there than we see on Earth. Who knows, there might even be new colors for us to discover!

Color tells us a lot about a place or person, and, whether we realize it or not, colors can also affect our emotions. Many people believe that there is a certain thing as color psychology, and some doctors even use an alternative medicine called color therapy to treat people suffering from depression, bipolar disorder, and other mental problems.

It’s funny how we just naturally tend to associate different colors with emotions, for example white – purity and blue – peace. Do you think that our moods and personalities also affect our clothing choices? The next time you go to randomly pick up a shirt from your closet, think about why you chose it. Does it in some way reflect your personality or mood? Maybe not, but if so what does it tell you?

Perhaps it’s time to brighten up our wardrobes with some more color! Below are a few colors and what we tend to associate them with.

White: purity, cleanliness, simplicity, peace, marriage, innocence, goodness
Blue: peace, harmony, unity, truth, confidence, conservatism, cleanliness
Red: excitement, energy, passion, fire, power, anger, love
Green: birth, renewal, health, generosity, peace, harmony, nature, envy, money
Yellow: joy, happiness, optimism, sunshine, summer
Purple: wisdom, respect, royalty
Orange: warmth, enthusiasm, happiness
Pink: love, admiration, femininity, marriage, joy, innocence
Black: mystery, death, evil, elegance, sophistication

Next time you go to your closet to pick out your clothes, thank God for the ability to see (and wear) a variety of colors. And remember that heaven will be so much more brilliant than what we can imagine here on earth!

“There is not one blade of grass, there is no color in this world that is not intended to make us rejoice.”
John Calvin

“In our life there is a single color, as on an artist's palette, which provides the meaning of life and art. It is the color of love.” Marc Chagall
