How do you best connect with God? There's an assessment you can take which will evaluate the way you most easily connect with God.

According to Gary Thomas, author of Sacred Pathways, there are nine different "paths" we might take to connect with God, depending on our personality:

Naturalist - connects with God through nature

Sensate - connects with God through the senses (sight, smells, hearing, touch, taste)

Traditionalist - connects with God through rituals and symbols

Ascetic - connects with God through solitude (time alone with God) and having a simple life

Activist - connects with God through bringing about social change

Caregiver - connects with God through caring for and serving others

Enthusiast - connects with God through celebration and mystery
Contemplative - connects with God through personal adoration and devotion

Intellectual - connects with God through her mind

When we know which one(s) we are, we can celebrate that and look for ways to connect with, love and serve God that fit who we are.

When you've taken the assessment, let us know the results!

Wow! My results are all across the board! I really enjoyed this post and the assessment though. It ties into what my pastor preached on Sunday morning. We all learn differently and need to embrace how God made us and how we grow close to Him, that's when we, well, grow close to Him!

:) My #1:Enthousiast #2: Naturalist #3: Sensate and Contemplative

These totally make sense! And it's really nice to have something like this survey to point out. So I can be like "oh! so that's why I do that!" or whatever...it's handy :)

Hi Rose & Katie, Thanks for your comments! My results were across the board too. :) (#1: Naturalist & Ascetic, #2: Contemplative, #3: Sensate)

If you want more information about these different styles, get Gary Thomas's book Sacred Pathways.
