Daniel 3:29, "Therefore, I make a decree that any people, nation or tongue that speaks anything offensive against the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego shall be torn limb from limb and their houses reduced to a rubbish heap, inasmuch as there is no other god who is able to deliver in this way." (NASB)

Bow down before this golden image and worship it!

What a command that Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego faced from King Nebuchadnezzar!

Bow down and worship this image or face the fiery furnace!

Daniel had appointed these three men as administrators over Babylon while he was away at the king's court. They had no idea what challenges would meet them. King Nebuchadnezzar made a golden image of himself and commanded everyone within earshot of music to fall down, worshipping his image.

Some of the Chaldeans tattled to Nebuchadnezzar that Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego did not follow orders, and therefore should be cast into the furnace. Nebuchadnezzar brought the three men before him, giving them one more opportunity to reconcile themselves, but instead of cowering under the threatening authority of the king, these three men boldly stood in his presence and declared, "If it be so, our God whom we serve will deliver us from the furnace of blazing fire; and He will deliver out of you hand, O king. But even if He does not, let it be known to you, O king, that we are not going to serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up" (Daniel 3:17-18, NASB).

After casting the three Hebrew children into the furnace, the king saw them walking amid the flames accompanied by a fourth Man who shone with the light of Heaven. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego were delivered from the fire, and the king proclaimed, “... there is no other god who is able to deliver in this way" (v. 29).

How amazing it is to know that you and I serve this Mighty God, the One who is able to deliver us from whatever evils we face. He walks right beside us through the blazing furnace.

Today's world constantly bombards us with golden images, whether they be the latest styles, the newest philosophies, the literature we must read for homework, or even the orders of a worldly boss. But we must be as bold as the three Hebrew children, declaring our salvation to be found only through Jesus. We must stand firmly and shout, "We serve the Mighty, Living God who is able to deliver us, if it is His will, and if He chooses not to, we will praise Him anyway because we trust Him!"

We must remember that God is with us even while the fire intensifies all around us. Romans 8:31 says, "What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us?" (NASB). This is not to say we won't encounter opposition. Quite the opposite! However, it does remind us that we serve an Almighty God, and no matter what or who may come against us, our God is victorious. His ways our above our own!

Prayer:
Lord, we trust You today to manifest Your perfect will in our lives. Thank You for delivering us from the ultimate furnace of sin and death so that we may spend eternity with You. We are assured that no matter what we face, You are Almighty, and Your will is beyond our comprehension. Give us the strength and boldness to stand boldly for You in ALL circumstances! Praise and glory be Yours forever! In Jesus' name, Amen.

Think About It:
What/who has come against you with opposition?

Have you been bold enough to stand firm in tough situations?

Live It:
Ask the Lord to give you His strength and boldness so that you may stand firm against the temptation of fear and peer pressure. The Bible tells us to ask and it will be given to us. Open your heart to the Lord and let His power amaze you!

Power Verses:
John 15:18-19, "If the world hates you, you know that it has hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you." (NASB)

Romans 8:37, "Yet amid all these things we are more than conquerors and gain a surpassing victory through Him Who loved us." (Amplified)
