Psalm 127:1-2 says: “Unless the LORD builds a house, the work of the builders is wasted. Unless the LORD protects a city, guarding it with sentries will do no good. It is useless for you to work so hard from early morning until late at night, anxiously working for food to eat; for God gives rest to his loved ones.” (NLT)

This week, we've been talking about striving versus resting in God.

God wants us to be focused on the things that He's about. He wants us to let Him guide us because He knows the best path for our lives. He wants us to experience His peace and joy, which come by following Him, trusting in His love and care for us. When we allow Him to guide us, things go much more smoothly than when we try to take our own path.

As Psalm 127 shows, if we try to make something happen but God's not in it, our work is useless. It's pointless for us to anxiously work for things that aren't in God's plan for us. That process of striving will just leave us exhausted and empty-handed.

What does this Scripture in Psalm 127 mean to you?

We encourage you to rewrite this passage into God's words to you.

And we'd love for you to share with us below how you've rewritten it by leaving a comment.
