Our enemy, the devil, is always looking for a way to bring us down and even take us out. He’s got all kinds of clever schemes. For some, it’s temptation that leads you to sin; for others it’s discouragement that makes you want to quit doing what God has called you to do. Still for others, it’s hurt feelings from a friend that bring division and isolation.

In every one of these circumstances, the enemy uses deception to get to us – to make us believe something is true that’s really not or that something is not true that really is. These lies can be about anything – ourselves, the people we love, God, our situations, you name it.

I know this may sound like a strange or foreign concept to you that we as Christians can and do experience the attack of an unseen enemy – a.k.a. Satan. But the Bible reveals to us what’s going on:

Ephesians 6:10-13: “…Be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.” (NIV)

God, give us eyes to see the battle that’s going on around each of us. Help us to fight the enemy, wearing all the armor You supply us with, and remembering You’re on our side. Guard us from the attacks of our enemy and make us stronger in You.
