“Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God” John 1:2(NIV)

Who are you?

What’s your reputation or identity? The good church girl? The basketball star?

It's hard to get our identity straight, often it gets warped. We see ourselves as worthless, unloved.

But do you realize who you really are?

A child of God.

Do you realize how much you are worth, that you are prized and loved? In fact God has love letters to you all over the Bible you just have to look!

I am a child of God. Do we realize how amazing that is? The God of the universe, who created every star, every snow flake, paints every sunrise, and commands the sea, call us His children! Wow! What a loving God! I saw a video not long ago and it was explaining that if the entire North American continent was the Milky Way Galaxy, then our solar system as a WHOLE would be about the size of a quarter sitting on the North American continent. You see, we are insignificantly small and are loved by a significantly large God! Out of everything else God created, He chose extremely small you and I, to cherish more than ever, and to call children of God! What an identity!

God’s done His part. He sent His son to die so that we may be His daughters; now it’s our turn. All we have to do to embrace this new identity is to receive Him and believe in His name. We don’t have to put on a big show or be the perfect church girl; we simply have to love Him.

Can we do that? Can we love a God that loved us enough to die for us?

Your new Identity? Child of God.

“Dear heavenly Father, Help me to realize how much I am loved by you and to keep my identity straight, so that I may know who I am in you, in Jesus’ name, Amen.”

Romans 8:17, “Now if we are children, then we are heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.” (NIV)

Pay attention to your to what makes up you identity this week, who are you expected to be, knick names you have exc. Are all of these things the real you?
